Fried Gator
Step 1 not seen
get gator (if you're the adventurous type and it's legal pull tags and go hunting. If not google local gator trappers who sells meat.
Step 2
Put processed gator into buttermilk and hot sauce mixture. Let sit 2 hours to overnight
At this time decide on your batter or flour mix. Ive used all purpose flour, corn meal, paprika, black pepper, onion powder and some other spices. Dont ask how much i dont measure.
Step 3
Fill bottom of pot with preferred frying medium. Needs high smoke point. Oil will be at 350F.
Step 4
Pull gator from marinade, let excess drip or lightly shake.
Place into plate with flour mix and coat. If you have extra in bag grab some and sprinkle on top to coat. Shake off extra
Step 5
Fun part, place battered gator into oil and fry 3-5 minutes or until done. Dont overcrowd the pot. Patience is key here
Step 6
Fish out of oil and drain on plate
