When I was in elementary school we had student elections where someone would promise to have pizza for lunch every day or eliminate homework...Only to discover they had no power to do those things once elected. The presidential election is like that.

@Sourcenode All democracy is like this. You promise something, you win the vote, and only then do you turn to the practical and provide an inferior solution. Because of bureaucratic overhead, it is more expensive and cuts more corners than the organic culture or free market alternative.
