Today many bitcoiners are all still using on Twitter.
We pay Elon for reach. Our posts are not even signed with our own keys. This is complete trust in a third party.
I don't think Nostr is the solution for a Global Town Square. If you disagree say why.
But does anyone care?

What if Twitter simply transitioned it's data- and userbase to Nostr? Do you still think it wouldn't work out?
Nostr rocks da house
I don’t think so. And they can’t because all of the posts on Twitter are unsigned
Why not?
I’m here talking to people around the world every day
It works, kind of :-)
I’m curious to know why you think Nostr is not the solution. It’s a permissionless, open protocol that anyone in the world can access and build on. It requires no KYC, and notes are signed with cryptographic keys. Bitcoin has become Nostr’s native currency via the Lightning Network. There are dozens of clients to choose from. What else do you need?
Why do we need "the answer" ? Does that mean billions of people (and bots!) flooding the network with same engagement farming and reach-maxxing that started making Twitter intolerable long before Musk bought it. Isn't it enough to have a censorship-free, identity-based place for authentic discussions with real peple?
I think that's all great and true. But I think having hundreds of independent relays with different policies is not good specifically for a Global Town Square.
I asked first 😀
Is it OK that the majority of people do not sign messages with their own keys?
>I don't think Nostr is the solution for a Global Town Square. If you disagree say why.
disagree because it's an open protocol with basically no barrier to entry.
Why you don't think it's the solution for a global town square?
Yeah those are great qualities. But for a Global Town Square specifically, I think having hundreds of relays with different policies and stores of content doesn’t work well enough (happy to be proven wrong)
Ugh, i wrote an entire effort post, but lost it because i switched apps for a second.
So unfortunatly you will have to figure out your mistake based on this:
>you confuse your comparison
>relays are like platforms
> relays with different policies are like different platforms like replying to a post on instagram on reddit or X
> Nostr, via outbox, actually allows for resolving this stuff despite things being in different places with different policies
>> you are fundamentally mistaken, because saying there there are different silos is the reason why the web as such does not function as the global square, whereas Nostr actually solves this, meaning there is far less reason/need to be in the same 'place' because you can interact regardless...while at the same time a relay similar to X could also just exist.
No i wont accept any retorts, because my now dissappeared effort post described everything in detail, and cant handle the frustration of having to go over it again.
Never counter signal Nostr again, it is glorious, you are not worthy.
Have a nice day
Thanks for taking the effort to reply again!
I’m unconvinced about the outbox model. But I’m happy to be wrong :-)
Even worse: Twitter doesn't even provide reach any more, even when you have 1M followers.
