Historically, Republicans would have been chomping at the bit to support Ukraine. They are a fledgling democracy under attack by an autocracy, one which we have fought before for many years.

If I didn't know the current context and you asked me who would be on which side in the Ukraine conflict, I would have guessed Republicans support sending arms to Ukraine and dems whining about how we should be focusing on peace. How the tables have turned.

THAT'S WHY THE PARTY IS NAMED REPUBLICAN, BECAUSE LINCOLN SUPPORTED A REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT.
LINCOLN DID NOT WANT THE PRESIDENT TO HAVE THE POWER TO DECLARE WAR BECAUSE THIS GIVES THE PRESIDENT WARTIME POWERS.
LINCOLN WANTED POWER TO BE DECENTRALIZED.
THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY IS ALL IN ON AUTOCRACY.
LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS, SIGNED INTO LAW BY A FORMER PRESIDENT, AND UPHELD BY THE SUPREME COURT CAN NOW BE OVERTURNED VIA EXECUTIVE ORDER!
Um, calling Ukraine a democracy is pretty funny.
And I say that as someone who doesn’t regard democracy as any kind of ideal or best way.
