The tarrif genius .. 10 % flat on China and 25 % on Mexico and Canada .. what is the rationale ? #askNostr Here is my 4 .. - China was deliberately building capacity in Mexico ( and possibly in Canada) to route goods to US .. all that effort is now wasted . - Sending goods directly to US at 10 % tarrif is actually cheaper than rounting through Mexico .. so inflation is taken care .. - Chiese manufacturer has incentive to set up manufacturing in US rather than setting up shops in Mexico and or Canada - The drug and trafficking money was used to build facilities in Mexico .. all incentives now gone .. and government is now forced to tackle the cartels .. particularly because cartels are put on terror list

Are you saying my bi-annual drive to Mexico is going to get lit?

That would be dirty as fuck, Vietnam-like. Hopefully, he just wants to put pressure on Mexico to put its own army to do the dirty work.

WHILE I HOPE FOR BOTH JUSTICE AND PEACE, I FEAR YOU COULD BE CORRECT. LIVING IN EL PASO BETWEEN AFGHANISTAN DEPLOYMENTS, I OFTEN LOOKED AT JUAREZ AND THOUGHT IT LOOKED LIKE KABUL OR GHAZNI BUT WITH LESS TRACERS EVERY NIGHT. I PRAY THAT THE LEVELS OF BROKENNESS AND DEPRAVITY SO WIDESPREAD AMONG AFGHANS WILL NOT REGISTER SIMILARLY HERE.
The Cartels do need to go. I prefer to just legalize their main money makers before using bullets. But they are awful fucks who deserve to die. I have no issue getting rid of them.
stick with gm. then a news brief. tell that hippie billionaire to wash his shirt.

A sad, but quite possible hypothesis. I hope it will never begin but if it does US will not come out as the winning side, as usual. Guerrilla warfare is a bitch. Especially if your MIC sells weapons to both sides.
That's very topical Matt. I agree but I think we will also have an entire area on polymarket where people are putting bets on cartel heads and then bounty hunters will try and manipulate the markets. Gonna be crazy!

American government is providing money to the taliban (they have historically been paid to hire) to support India against Pakistan as well. This is another axis that no one talks about.

Historically, Republicans would have been chomping at the bit to support Ukraine. They are a fledgling democracy under attack by an autocracy, one which we have fought before for many years.

If I didn't know the current context and you asked me who would be on which side in the Ukraine conflict, I would have guessed Republicans support sending arms to Ukraine and dems whining about how we should be focusing on peace. How the tables have turned.

That may actually be a war people would politically/socially support as well as its at home and on their soil. An excuse to print money. some things never change.
I see the pros and cons , but is anyone thinking about the fact that as of now we won’t be able to travel there , as in we’re all potential hostages ? I’m very worried about all the non latino that either moved there or take multiple vacations , I think it’s over 😞 , let’s make sure to raise awareness , I don’t think cartels will be as nice to tourist as they used to from now on , if it escalates

The military security surveillance industrial complex. Welcome to the new terrain of politics. It is necessary to push against this trend and ensure individual and community freedom.

This is the problem people fail to see. Democrats and Republicans are different sides of the same coin. They continue, more or less, the same overall trajectory.

I agree. Once, Trump declared them a terrorist organization. This will no longer be handled by the DEA. It will be handled by the US military. I would not be shocked to see if congress reimplement the PATRIOT ACT. If so, the war on drugs in the 80s will look a child’s birthday party. We may be in the beginning stages of the war on drugs in the 21st century. War on Drugs 2.0.

Hmm…I think I support that but can’t help but wonder if it’s the years of programming I’ve received from the industrial war machine.

I don’t know much about this, but from what I understand, Mexico has tried to fight them and failed many times already

Abraham Lincoln was against autocracy. The new Republicans are ABRAHAM LINCOLN WAS AGAINST AUTOCRACY. THAT'S WHY THE PARTY IS NAMED REPUBLICAN, BECAUSE LINCOLN SUPPORTED A REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT. LINCOLN DID NOT WANT THE PRESIDENT TO HAVE THE POWER TO DECLARE WAR BECAUSE THIS GIVES THE PRESIDENT WARTIME POWERS. LINCOLN WANTED POWER TO BE DECENTRALIZED. THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY IS ALL IN ON AUTOCRACY. LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS, SIGNED INTO LAW BY A FORMER PRESIDENT, AND UPHELD BY THE SUPREME COURT CAN NOW BE OVERTURNED VIA EXECUTIVE ORDER!
It would be more like a cold war because the cartels are just a proxy for the USA government. Wait so it's actually a civil war via proxy because it's the USA military vs the USA governments proxies
Only because the USA government protects them from the Mexican government. Every time Mexican government seizes weapons or takes ground USA gives more weapons and support to the cartels

USA knows exactly where the Cartel leadership lives. They drone a dozen cartel leaders in their "safe" estates, "war" over... at least during Trump presidency. Maybe its all bluster to get cartels to do USA dirty work farther south??? Kind of weird timing with Maduro wanted poster? Perhaps its being telegraphed that we are taking him out one way or the other.
The cartels won’t go quietly. If the trump admin does this expect Mexican style terror campaigns in American cities. U.S. special forces will win ultimately but not without collateral damage.

Um, calling Ukraine a democracy is pretty funny. And I say that as someone who doesn’t regard democracy as any kind of ideal or best way.

All more reasons to build your own resilience & independence, don’t do stupid things with stupid people in stupid places, focus on what you can control…… ….and stay humble & stack sats.
If this comes about, it’ll get ugly. Both in the fight, and in the defense of freedoms from lawmaker oversteps amidst such a campaign against a close and embedded enemy.
