Their analysis found potential causality in increased mental health problems from regular exposure to short form content, and attention reductions, with recommendations on further studies to test causality, and types of short form content.
"The cognitive difficulties linked to SFV use may be interpreted
through the lens of Groves and Thompson’s (1970) dual theory of
habituation and sensitization. This theory posits that repeated
exposure to highly stimulating, fast-paced content may lead to
habituation, wherein users become desensitized to slower, more
cognitively demanding tasks such as reading, problem solving, or
