Idk, Kratter sent out a "please help!" asking 110'ers to open up 8333 to make more listening nodes to help with IBD.
Seems like he realizes that there'll be a split (because otherwise any node helps with IBD...) and wants more bootstrapping capacity.
Or he's just running around with his hair on fire.
Either way not sure he's quite ready.

But yea, just probably don't send any big transactions on August 8. Or accept them as payment without some extra confirmations. And if you are sending them, maybe be sure to include an op_if or op_return >83 bytes. And then go back to living your peaceful life.

There are investors and redistribution of some of satoshis coins to them and a active ecosystem of development.
It will be worth more than bip110 coins that's for sure.
