I do that quite a lot to be honest just what out for sneaky snails if you plant something else there. They like the leaves but not the stems.

You can't eat the leaves on rhubarb just the stem it's more juicy and sour and I have never made swiss chard crumble.

Swiss chard is just beets that have been bred for leaf development as opposed to root.

I’ve been thinking the same thing about my endive and radicchio.
