Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, the top U.S. commander in Europe, has warned the Pentagon that he no longer has enough Navy destroyers to keep protecting Israel from Iranian ballistic missile attacks while also meeting U.S. defense needs.
The destroyers, which have intercepted missiles targeting Israel, are stretched by operations in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, and around Iran, while maintenance issues have further reduced availability.

Japan has established its first centralized intelligence agency since World War II, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), to better coordinate intelligence, counter espionage, and respond to national security threats.
The reform is intended to fix long-standing weaknesses in Japan's fragmented intelligence system and may pave the way for an anti-spy law and a foreign intelligence service similar to the CIA or MI6.

Yet EUCOM destroyers have been parked in the eastern Mediterranean for years as part of Israel's air defense, alongside CENTCOM's own posture in the Gulf — and despite both commands committing assets to the theater, Iran has still been landing hits on GCC infrastructure and US bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain.
That's the real signal here. It's not "EUCOM is stretched," it's "two full US commands combined, running sustained operations for months, still can't fully close the gap."
