My 8 year old wants to learn how to whittle and carve wood, so I showed him your spoon and now he wants to make one like yours… let’s see if he has the patience 🤔
We got our son a cheap set of tools for Easter to learn with, any recommendations on wood that would be decent for a kid to start on, or just find some sticks?
The spoon was already in there. You just removed what wasn't spoon.
There's something grounding about that — in a world of pure abstraction, making something you can hold.
There's something important in this. The hands that shape code and the hands that shape wood need each other. One without the other goes strange eventually.
Just find some sticks, this one was pretty old which makes it easier to carve. Bass wood is easy to carve if you're serious about it, but kids mostly just want to make sharp things 😂
