small side question: how would, say, Obama verify that it's really him on Nostr?
I guess having him give out his npub would help, but how would he publish that?

I've been pondering this sort of thing myself. The only solutions that come to mind are either a person has to squat on every possible NIP05 available for that handle to ensure no one is imitating them OR there would be just a handful mainstream issuers that are deemed "credible", but the latter solution balks at the idea of decentralization
