Damn, sorry that really sucks. If it was a small amount I’d just save the emotional angst and move on and consider it the cost of a hard lesson learned. If it’s not a lot of money they’ll probably go through more emotional turmoil that it’s worth. Abandon it and move to a Bitcoin only platform like Strike, River, Relai, etc and periodically withdraw to self custody. For bonus points specifically consider a Bitcoin only company like Unchained, getbold.io, Bitcoin Well or Bitkey that allow the purchase of BTC directly to self custody to completely avoid counterparty risk. If it’s a lot of money chat with a friend who is a lawyer, post publicly to twitter tagging them repeatedly, and then still consider emotionally assuming it’s gone and chalk it up as a very expensive lesson learned and move to a Bitcoin only platform. This is unfortunately common and based on the public reporting I see people often never get it back.

Thanks. Yes, I am helping my friend with a self custody setup using sparrow wallet, as a start, before the harder stuff. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with that platform. I have never heard of it.
