Every time I try to open a bank account, in ANY country, I’m reminded of how utterly broken & backwards the banking system is. The amount of data collected, and the amount of microscoping into your asshole they do, just so you can use your OWN money is mind boggling. I sincerely look forward to the day this stupid system is wholesale abolished. Seriously. Fuck these people. #bitcoin

Last time the wife and I had to deal with a bank.. on the way out she looked at me and said “you’re right, they’re dead and they don’t even know it” Proud moment.
😂😂 The "microscoping into your asshole" part really paints the picture! 🔬🍑 Every time, it feels like they go deeper just to give you access to your own money. absurd

Soon, this dark night will end, many Batmans are working to bring shiny and just days.
Same experience today when I onboarded an older lady at the farmer's market today. Could have had her do Muun Wallet on iOS, but she was basically a Boomer or older GenX. I thought Strike made sense for someone who just wants to be able to send, receive and save without overcomplicating things. The sign up process is still very onerous because of all the KYC requirements.

You can use to your own money anyway you like. You are the one that wants to use *their* systems.
Best part is, Mr Unsecured Creditor, it stops being your money once you hand it over to the bank. image
Sorry but using bitcoin broadly to do things like pay rent and buy food in most places is just not possible So you’re stuck with having to use their broken, stupid system in order to actually live like a normal human being
This is very true but states don't give up their power willingly and so the day it ends might include a variety of unimaginably worse events.
The system is super rigged, last year I reorganized all my stuff, credit cards, bank accounts and brokers and now I have a bad credit score just because I cancelled a lot of cards / accounts and opened new ones 🥲 Can’t open anything KYC for at least a few months more, because of this. Never owed the bank a fucking cent - that is why I study #bitcoin!

If your landlord doesn't take cash that's a problem between you and your landlord.

You think opening the account is hard. Wait until you want to spend your money in a way they don't like. 🫡 good luck

*Bankrupted. It'll never be "abolished"
Had the same feeling going through a business bank account application in Australia recently Painful at best. Downright nefarious at worst A cartel that has been too much for for too long, at the expense of everyone else
The whole notion of “banking the underbanked” seemed logical to me at first but now I know it’s optimized for personal tracking and tax collection. Thank Satoshi and all who developed the tech needed for the alternative financial system we needed
Backwards indeed! I recall I had to deal with Medallion Signature Guarantees where one has to sign a document in front of a financial institution employee (not simply a notary!) to avoid “fraud”. A signed message alternative would have accomplished the same outcome without all the charade 🤷🏼‍♂️
banks are fat, slow, and broken, but it’s the regulators who make the mess. banks might even be happy to cut their kyc costs and increase their margin…
You would almost think they would make it easy to have a bank account so they can take back ownership of the cash and track people and transactions easier. Pushing people into cards and electronic transfers through bank accounts would make more sense.
