Hashes to what? We are not serving immutable media that does not require optimization during runtime for the best experience. Video and audio is on a whole new level, it is not a single file if you want a good experience (HLS, DASH). All this “we must have one hash stored somewhere and never modified” is shortsighted at best, completely misses the point at worst. And don’t get me started on complete lack of foresight about delivering the media in a timely manner (milliseconds) to the clients with diverse connectivity and bandwidth constraints. Unless people start considering what is being used for what, I don’t see how we can make users (the number one priority) satisfied and enjoy their experience. And lastly, don’t get me started on all these inventions that slack any standards or even open to considering any input from the services that have real life experience working with media delivery. 🐶🐾🫡
IPFS provided media delivery with Merkle DAGs. We’re bringing it to Nostr. Arranging the leaves in the order that the video plays in allows you to deliver each branch one after another, so the video progressively loads in a cryptographically verifiable way. This is what’s coming. If it isn’t signed, it can be tampered with. Don’t you see the point of Nostr is tamper-resistance? Without signatures, we’re no different than legacy media. Scaling at the cost of security is verifiability is Vitalik energy!
Sounds like a person who just jumps to a conclusion without even understanding what we are cooperating about. Do you even know what we are talking about here? Would you be surprised to know that we are cooperating on AI classification of the media that has nothing to do with delivery or storage? Do you realize there is a moderation aspect that comes with the media hosting to classify things into a set of categories for easy discovery? Exactly, I don’t think you even care, just judging from the armchair like the rest of the internet “experts”. Want to help and steer things in the right direction? Start by at least asking what problems we are trying to solve 🐶🐾🫡
😂😂😂 Pathetic… you think I don’t know? I was the one telling everyone IPFS was centralized on Nostr months ago. We extracted and evolved the Merkle DAG technology for relays. IPFS and its P2P network have nothing to do with the value of Merkle Trees. Bitcoin uses Merkle Trees… or is that centralized? 🤦 Merkle trees are absolutely more decentralized than your stupid ass URLs. You’ve got no clue what you’re talking about. Honestly mate, if you want to live in a world of centralized URLs forever then nostr.build is the enemy.
Let’s compare: URLs: -Certificate Authorities -ICANN -DNS registries -Mutable file names -Nothing signed Merkle Trees: -No CAs -Files on relays, chunked to fight delay attacks -Signed by your key It’s clear you’re centralized. 🤡
AI for content moderation sounds awesome! I hope you guys make progress on it. I was just replying to your comment on about right and wrong. There’s absolutely a difference between right and wrong.
Now I am playing dumb, while you jump on to unrelated thread and trying to attack about something that is not mentioned, and only known to you. Interesting way to look at the world. If you feel that I am pathetic and dumb, mute and unfollow me and carry on with your life the way you think is good for you. In the end, the problems that you are trying to solve are not necessarily a top problem that me or @Quentin are trying to solve. 🐶🐾🫡
You are ignoring the central point… this way never about you or him — it was about your reliance on centralized URLs. It always has been. Whatever else you’re doing with AI, I hope goes well. My original comment was about the URLs that you refuse to break away from. We’ll make your centralized BS obsolete. 👋
@Colby Serpa I don't understand why you use such an aggressive narrative, if you want your project to prosper you should build bridges and not confront each other gratuitously. It's obvious that we have different paths but that doesn't mean that I don't respect your work, but please don't disrespect others by using derogatory words and adjectives. I'm going to tell you something that may surprise you, your project is super interesting but your way of promoting it spoils everything. As Fishcake says, the initiatives parallel to the standard, for the moment, do not solve the real problems of the users, that does not mean that they are worse or better. Today 'centralized' servers solve a problem, let's work together to decentralize them with the tools we have, this is called NIP96 for the moment. There are wonderful alternatives like Blossom 🌸, or H.o.r.n.e.t.s, let's embrace them and try to find a consensus together. I’m trying to do that. Nostr.build is the best thing that ever happened to nostr, without them the rest of us would not have been able to handle the traffic and workload, nostr.build is not the enemy, how wrong you are! There are no ‘enemies’ here 😀 By the way, good morning and happy Friday!! 😀🤓🫂🎉💜
I’m trying to get you to understand that URLs are centralized. File names can conflict. None of it is signed. This is the opposite of what Nostr is about. If you don’t understand that, we aren’t fighting for the same thing.
I understand what you say, I also agree that we do not fight for the same thing, and I'm not talking about nostr, but in the way of seeing life. I have pending to try your software, as soon as I can give an informed opinion I will do it. Have a nice day!! 😀
