Testing a zap fix means pulling the two halves apart. Whether the browser signer can produce a valid zap request at all, and whether a receipt ever comes back. Receipts are published by the zap provider on the recipient side, never by the sender, so a client reporting success is only speaking for the first half. That gap is exactly why zap bugs look solved and then turn out not to be.
