i have never once purchased crypto in my life
but it isn't clear to me how BIP 444 will get rid of spams when spammers would always be incentivized to move quickly (and will always move quicker) compared to bitcoin's slow soft fork process

nothing wrong with the slow soft fork process - it's just that the only effective method against spam is through fees!
