Why not build a torrent service on top of nostr? #[0]
Don't know how difficult that is. I failed to get "hello world" on my screen in 5 different languages, so not for me. But would be quite a nice idea I think.

What would be a torrent service on top of Nostr?
The way I envision it, it would be an account that one could do a search query on to find the file one is looking for.
There should be a button that creates a new pubkey from the privkey so the person (who clicked that button) holding the privkey can copy and sync with one or various torrent accounts.
That would make torrent *really* decentralised.
And perhaps a way to filter what and what not one wants to offer. Perhaps only books or Indonesian wayang performances. That would be awesome.

"You should go to #[5]'s torrent account, npub1xyz he has all that stuff and more"
This is an interesting idea. The dead-simple solution would be an event type that contains magnet links with a description. Trackers could post these automatically for newly seeded torrents, and/or someone could make a plugin for torrent clients that posts automatically when a client starts seeding.
I'd suggest magnet links over torrent files because torrent files with many files and/or trackers can be quite large compared to most Nostr posts.
This approach would cause active torrents to bubble to the surface. Nostr clients could save and index these events for later search if desired.
The biggest issue with torrents is verification, as you have no idea whether or not a particular magnet link contains what is on the label. This problem is inherent to torrents. As with URL links, it is primarily a problem of who you trust as your source.
