Is my PC cooked or am I a frame chasing nutter? want/need 150fps-200fps+ in ARC Raiders in basically everything maxed out. Max widescreen resolution... 3440x1440p. RTX Ray Shading out of the ass and all that. I spose if the game still runs like shit I will return or AI it up.

You’re a frame chaser. But hey, if you’ve ever lost matches because you’re ping is shit or your poor little pc was unable to deliver 60fps… you’ve raged. I’ll play shit on lowest settings purposefully for rates.

I play in NA usually so instead of 10ms I get 150-250ms. I lose matches when the entire pc locks up because of vram loading issues or someshit. Or im just shit. I also play everything on lowest if I'm doing comp play but otherwise I like having a 4K cinema w my games. And the main thing is I stream... i have to run my old pc soon with a capture card just to get the game to play and stream over 30fps. Fucking OBS. Otherwise im hitting just over 100 at times. No games will ever get me to upgrade usually... but this ARC shit and AI self hosting is heating me up. Also yes, I am a self confessed frame chasing frame rapist. I grew up with my first FPS being Quake at 5FPS and I've been gaming since birth so... fuck it 😂

yeah, neither of mine are likely much good either. mainly thanks to sucralose and acesulfame-k. and i also developed a visual convergence problem from that. (and severe muscle cramping issues and muscle weakness). recovering now, but it required me to stop drinking alcohol completely. now i'm fighting with chronic elevated CNS arousal levels, not sleeping very well at all, i had to take a few days off work and start forcing myself to nap to try and catch up. i'm almost there, should be back in the saddle by the time i resume work on thursday

i recently discovered that the Gnome/GTK window manager/compositor doesn't disable properly for fullscreen 3D unless you install Gamemode. my video card was released end of 2023 and i never saw it do much better than about 70fps on the most demanding games, but now it sits between 90 and 120 most of the time on the same exact games, and the flow (because of frame dropping before) is out of sight smoother now. for FPS and other high action games (like maybe parcour or bullet hell types of games), the FPS matters a lot. anything under 50 starts to impact your ability to respond to the maximum of your capability. raw framerate doesn't matter as much as the lack of frame drops. oh yeah, variable sync also helps a lot because vsync increases latency by one frame.
