So I think I found out there is a such thing as too much garlic. Been proofing this bread for ~20 hours and I think the anti-microbial properties of the garlic and rosemary killed my sourdough Been doing herbed bread for a while and this is the first time i went overboard and killed the ferment

Lol. When I was much younger working in Italian restaurants, I learned that putting way too much garlic and stuff is definitely an American thing. My Sicilian boss did not like garlic. ๐Ÿ˜…
Norse poetry has sections like "he killed the most men, he grew the most pungent garlic, he won the most battles, he had 23 sons" when talking up some great king. No idea how Italians became synonymous with garlic in American culture.
