I'm not so sure. On Nostr, you don't have Faglon's or Zukerfag's algorithm helping push influencer slop on the time line and literally funding them. You gotta work much harder than being an influencer here on Nostr if you wanna get paid. At least currently that's how it is.

Quite a few apps / clients have covert censonship / covert algos, they call it web of trust. And no matter how much i try to avoid the maxi ngu grifters, they get thru blocks and mutes. And its beyond algos. On three separate issues related to btc within the past couple yrs, I was mocked, attacked, shit on, etc, for raising concern about some shit. Eventually (weeks or months later) a certain pair decided it was allowed to be criticized. Suddenly, same who laughed at me, were showing concern. Algos dont mean shit when people form their own mental algos ie CULT.

I think the algorithms affect perceptions quite a lot. Sure, people on legacy social media (LSM) get to choose who they follow, what they like + retweet, but ultimately it is the platform's algorithm that dictates overall boundary in which those actions take place. Interesting that you see the "echo chamber" or "CULT" as a bad thing as I'm finding that cyber cult formation is a lot harder to do on LSM like X. Not sure if you're still on LSM but many people complain that they suddenly find that X randomly unfollows people and deliberately doesn't show people that they prefer on the timeline (happens to me frequently). Like LSM deliberately makes it harder to form a tribe or "cyber cult" and prefers for people to just follow + interact with big name influencers. That's what I think nostr can address and fix. Good point on Nostr clients having covert censorship. This needs to be fought against before nostr just turns into another LSM app.

Web of trust needs to go, and its my understanding that if using amythyst (perhaps others as well), if 5 people you follow mute / block someone, that person is blocked for you.
