What’s the end goal? Easy payment options that just work, complete sovereignty, some mix of the two? I’m personally ok with running my own node, but I’ve had custodial wallets that I kept the amount of sats I was comfortable losing in. Node managing can be a bit of a pain. I’m not sure having someone do it for you for small amounts to zap with is so bad.
