Spend and replace when you can. Other than zaps, the only time I have used BTC to buy something is when I bought a jade hardware wallet, and perhaps three times I have used bitrefill. Not too many daily ways to actually purchase with BTC yet, especially “in person” when out and about. Perhaps this time next decade it will be a different story.
