Even if you ask people if they care, they will tell you they donβt.

I do care.
In my opinion it does not matter how many care. But it is important that there is room to increase privacy for those who care.
In my experience, most people say they care but it's not a viable option, so they don't bother with caring.
Yes, and even if you tell them they have no privacy they think about how hard it would be to go against the machine that they decide they'd rather not care after all. Or just say, well, there's nothing I can do about it.
When you can't see how you're being exploited it's impossible to act on it, no matter how bad it is. And breaches of online privacy are as invisible as air to most people.
