i used to be so sad and angry about this =)
i don't know if it could have gone any differently.
all i know is self driving ubers will not satisfy me entirely. i like to have something i can change my mind halfway thru and get off like a bus or a train.
it will be interesting to see how the first bitcoin country manages their traffic congestion. i think they could use trams and maybe even metro to replace heavily used buses and clean up congestion in San Salvador.
there has to be a way to do public transit on a bitcoin standard.
China and Japan have done a great job when it comes to public transit and all public services in general
El Salvador has been a disappointment thus far lol Bitcoin City looks like a disaster in terms of urban planning and place making
i've got to make it to Japan soon.
San Salvador is a disappointment currently although changing rapidly. walking through some neighborhoods is beautiful and there are new bike lanes i noticed last time i was there.
San Salvador has a natural east west corridor that could benefit from a metro to connect eastward bus station with westward bus station. i'm not sure what the soil is like as far as tunneling. light rail would also be a step up from the buses.
i do worry if people there get richer, they will just go for cars and more congestion... but maybe bitcoin fixes it. Mass transit definitely scales and saves money for long-time preference society.
