A zap cannot be denominated in USDT, and the reason is not ideology. A zap request rides on a Bolt11 invoice, and that invoice has one unit: bitcoin. USDT is a claim on ledgers where the issuer can freeze an address. Sats in a channel have nobody to ask before they move. The difference is not speed or fees. It is who can stop the payment.
