No what would be great is if we could kill all the pieces of shit that run locked wifi networks without an open guest network in places that don't already have an internet connected open network in range

Why not pay them SATs for data?
Most miners run at a loss, because anyone who sees an opportunity can compete with them. Once your paying Bitcoin for WiFi, anyone who sees an opportunity can deliver a better service to you.
Hopefully removing the moat from ISP businesses will make the market for connectivity super competitive.
