Vancouver may stand by itself in the S-tier of Bitcoin cities. The level of merchant adoption is inspiring. Huge shoutout to their community and the Coinos team for significantly moving the needle.

Custodial does seem like the way merchants bootstrap into the Bitcoin-lightning paradigm. The alternative is to literally build the liquidity economy from the ground up (a federated network style) and it looks like merchants don't have time for that. I hope Coinos can continue to eschew the intoxicating pull to rug people. If so, we can integrate big players into self-custodial lightning and build that free market from the ground.

Shout out Roses nail salon on commercial drive!
I'd love this adoption to happen in Geneva, Switzerland. Here it's very slow. Some merchants might need the help of a third party to start. It's not easy to install your own node and BtcPayServer. The swiss solution below might be an option. The merchant can use it as standalone app, all the employees are connected, cashing in to the same wallet. The merchant can choose to keep the BTC (non custodial) or partially/fully receive the amount in fiat. Not free, but no fees for setup and cheaper than CC.
