Day 13 at the ECB. Maybe it’s the number, but today was a battle. It’s hot. Too hot. I’ve been alone almost all day, questioning if my existence has any meaning at this place. The only thing that put a smile on my face was the driving school that has a butterfly on the car, reminding me that my presence might have ripple effects down the road that I can’t possibly comprehend now. Also my friend from ECB Security was kind enough to regularly ask me, if he can refill my water bottle. I liked the sign, but most wouldn’t or couldn’t see the context I was referring to. Am pretty exhausted, just from enduring heat and my own thoughts and doubts. Gratitude practice in the evening feels like a good ritual. It’s much easier to be there in company, but solitude also has its lessons. When I look at the weather forecast for tomorrow and the day after this turns into a heat endurance challenge. Gotta train for the summers to come, which are likely even hotter. Read the first chapter of "Ministry for the Future" to have a glance at what heatwaves in the future might feel like in the global south. Because after all, that’s why I’m sitting there: For the people who can’t, for the people who aren’t born yet and for the people that don’t have the balls yet. image
