There are three ways to respond to people who you believe are making inauthentic arguments. Firstly, if you believe their argument is bqd, but only because they are articulating their point poorly, then you can say "well, there's an easy counter-argument, but I think you have a deeper reason for disagreeing, so I am going to try to address your argument without relying on the shallow response." This response is know as steel-manning the argument.
Another response, if you believe that the person's literal argument is really good, but doesn't represent the person's ACTUAL beliefs is to say "actually I'm going to ignore what you said because I'm pretty sure your real thoughts are far dumber, and here's why..." this is know as steel manning.
The last response is to say "I'm tired of listening to you. I'm going to go sit on my couch and rewatch some old Denver Bronco football games. Do you see that quarterback on the screen right there? He was probably one of the best foorball players of all time." This is Peyton Manning.
