I don't think bip110 improves bitcoin in any way, even though it's in the name. It's temporary and isn't improving on any existing problem. What am I missing?
Improvements should be permanent.

Yes, I read the bip. The temporary part is confusing. If it's not good or well reviewed enough to be a candidate for permanent change, then it shouldn't be activated. If bitcoin had bugs or bad rules for a whole year, then it will fail.
