Thanks for kickstarting me on it, more updates to come in the next few months
I just realized the iPad app still has no auto layout. The fixed size really gets in the way with Stage Manager windows.
Yeah I see that Stage Manager issue now so thanks I’ll put in an update, although nothing in the app is related at all technically to “autolayout” since it’s not built with UIKit. Side note, what do you think of the new windowing system in iPadOS26?
Thanks for taking this further.
I consider adopting the traffic light icons, or any desktop concept a severe mistake, and submitted a feedback report to that effect.
SlideOver mostly worked, the previous window layout, while messy, genuinely tried, and the 26 update erases all progress.
The switch to a pixel tip pointer also sets the system back, so does the desktop type Safari interface.
Conversely they should bring back the short lived Safari redesign from a few years ago, remove the text magnifier in favor of dynamically scaling text they also tried in the past, and give whoever designed these changes more responsibility.
What do you think?
You dove in a lot more than me so far, so that was a really interesting read. Mostly I was messing around with adding menu bar items the other day to see how that felt in Block Screen on iPad
