This is straight out of the standard Department of "Justice," Convictions-R-Us playbook. First, you pick a team of 12 stupid people. Then you lie to them and tell them that the judge is the judge of the law, but they are only judges of facts who must abide by the judge's decisions on the law. It helps if the jurors went to public schools and also if you tell them how important and appreciated their service is. Throw in a few expert witnesses "As Seen on TV." Spin your magic in the closing argument, and *voila*, you have a guaranteed conviction. That was the outcome you planned to begin with, right? The way they jailed Irwin Schiff until he died? The way they jailed Larkin Rose, and many other members of the tax honesty movement? Pardon my cynicism, but I've seen it over and over, both from a distance and up close and very personal.๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿคฌ
