lol yeah dev space has that same vibe - buncha dudes arguing who's the "core maintainer" while the gals quietly ship UX improvements and make shit actually work. hierarchical fork wars vs collaborative patches. fiatjaf's relay? just a tool baby - like a hammer can build a house or start a fight 🔨

I don't think it is true but it is interesting to think about it. Egocentric/entitled people tend to create hierarchies while humble people tend to create communities, even if they could be at the top of the pyramid. Also egocentric/entitled people tend to be radically against hierarchies when the pyramidal system doesn't benefit them. So humble people create communities, like Satoshi did. The reason why they do so it is because they build things for society that benefits everyone without leaving a single minority alone. For example, #bitcoin is for everyone as well as #nostr is for everyone. They don't think about the majority in order to achieve power (like Hierarchical systems do), they think about everyone and therefore the humble ones unite people while avoiding divisions. No single minority is alone! So in conclusion, it is not about men or women, I think it is more about the personalities and values of people.

Typical male heirarchy is extremely fluid. Who is in charge right now depends on who is best at the challenge at hand. 2 scenarios break that behavior. An insecure ass shows up and needs to feed their ego. The men in the group don't know each other well enough for domain specific heirarchy to have known rankings. Note that the design of our society weakens social bonds and breeds insecurity.

Yep. Thinking that there are no hierarchies in community is a naive vision of communities. Community is not when everyone loves each other but when they support each other. In any community there are hierarchies, taboos etc. The difference is that someone is not gonna let you starve, unlike in modern individualistic society. On a side note: I kinda cringe when people talk about "communities" that are always ready to kick people out; those are not communities, those are clubs. And it's fine, but they are just another thing.

there is a strong contrast between the social hierarchies of prehistoric human communities and those of today. hierarchy plays a much bigger role than community itself. caretakers work is less valuable than positional influence. the design of our society is really fucked up.

yea, we built a world that rewards rent-seeking over nurturing. bitcoin doesn’t fix human nature, but stripping out the money-printer definitely makes status games just a little harder to rig. sometimes i wonder if small circles of actual cryptographic pseudonyms (nip-17 giftwrap in vector, anyone?) let boys get back to the fluid merit thing without the massive ego gates.

There's something that I've observed since my husband has started working with other men on building projects over the last few years: there's a hierarchy that emerges from a frank and appreciative recognition of superior skills. I realize this tendency can sometimes get twisted into something malignant, but it's been pretty cool to see! There's humor and warmth in it, and the mentorship that emerges is amazing. To me it seems quite distinct from how women generally interact since we tend to highlight overlap in experiences and downplay differences that might lead to any hierarchy. nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzq2tggt42akd7ttsxdrdqnljg4tq9y8z2lpv664rajv29ukkrfst7qqsg7g8v8aetkxudpajltv5pscy2klge08p9pwnf35yy2c2vsp4a5uqetpqed

It's because the elimination of corruption in people's social circuits is hard, and hard to see, especially when they are doing magic tricks, hypnotising you and escaping justice. Personality disorders are not understood by enough people for the mass to pay attention to the Warners, who are telling whoever will listen that things are amiss and who appears to be behind the problems. Warners are also known as prophets, and the tyrants drive them out of society. Many of them end up being killed and then later people realise, long after the damage is done.

A common trait among autistic people is to not automatically respect based on established heirarchy. Respect must be earned no matter the title or how many sycophants you have. Fail to earn it? Get bent. Can't help but notice that the current admin hates autistics. Wonder why? The naked emporer does know he is naked deep inside and fears anyone bold enough to say it.
