People who don’t know, don’t realize how casual and laidback top tier schools can appear to be. Especially if you’re someone who teaches undergrads and grad students— you tend to make things accessible and simple in conversation. I’ve gone to an elite school and worked with some of the most brilliant minds in my technical field, none of them sound brilliant in casual conversation (or even lectures) unless you actually knew a lot about what they were talking about.
It’s like criticizing a top gun pilot for describing a maneuver in common slang when in fact a ton of training and technical know how allowed him to execute it successfully.

People who are confident in their knowledge don't have the need to "impress" others by pumping up language with a lot of jargon.
