Testing out Pinepods as a podcasting app. Had issues with AntennaPod being a battery suck (seemed to be random, but for whatever reason it was nuking the hell out of my battery) and I like audiobook shelf, but its podcast functions are lacking.
Pinepod pulls its data from podcast index. It seems to be an app that *almost* has everything I need. Its shows podcast funding be seems to lack support for LN funding and boosts (Might be able to Vibe that in as all of that info is in podcast index and that's its main data source). but it has a mess of other features and an internal Gpodder API (so your not locked into their apps for podcast syncing cross-platform podcast syncing is something i really freaking want.).
Going to give it a week, but so far it's a decent app.

Can it go the other way and pull books off my audiobookshelf server? Their client app is extremely imprecise where it restarts skipping way ahead or replaying a large portion.
I don't see why not. You would have to set books / series as an RSS feed, but pinepods supports chapters. I know you can make RSS feeds in audiobook shelf, but I've not messed with it too much.
I did the bare minimum to listen to books and moved on. It might be worth another look.
Check out "Voice" on android. you just give it a collection of local folders (works nicely with Syncthing)
