If it helps any I keep forgetting what an abelian group is. I also never grok'd eigen values or vectors. So go ahead and name drop a few terms from set theory. But really lingo has nothing to do with intelligence, but it is the map of the territory for any discussion. The first and hardest step in getting into any new field is just learning the vocabulary. After that you can specialize as a BSer like me who talks a big game or an expert like ChipTuner who actually knows what the words mean and gets things done.

knowing words is not the same as understanding GPT and friends know many things but they don't understand shit i like to explain things to people and i don't consider it to be cool to speak over people's heads. analogies can usually build a bridge to the ideas

This is why one of my favorite uses for AI is to teach me the lingo. They make crap up but they do use the right words. It gives me a starting point for my own research.
