anger is never justified, because one is not upset for the reasons they think. they are angry about something that really isnt there, and they are trying to project their guilt onto something that isnt really there. so what must be do with the guilt? observe without judgment, and remember the truth that has never truly left the mind.

I'd also add to explore that "guilt" deeper and identify the root cause of it. you are right the answer is within. Perception is everything.
