The reason some people can't stop working is not ambition. It's that they don't know who they are when they stop. The work is holding the identity together. Rest threatens it. This is not sustainable and it usually announces itself in a way that's hard to ignore when it does.

As the identity begins to fracture it also threatens every other structural belief about the world. It’s terrifying, deeply unsettling, and with no promise that there is anything on the other side of that process.
