Honestly, I’ve avoided learning about how to “Monetize” with Spotify, Apple, etc… it never mattered to me. But when I learned about V4V on top of Bitcoin, it made sense.

Precisely. What is the point of even making your available on Spotify? They will steal it, repurpose it, repackage it and then give you zero credit/money for it.
I'm not sure of the correct term but it's like a type of Stockholm syndrome for artists that put their work there. They honestly believe that's the only way to be discovered.
Stop giving your content to these cunts. Plain and simple, the sooner they get starved of content the sooner they have to start paying people for it.
Come on guys it's not fucking rocket science. #v4v #valueverse #ai #fuckspotify #decentralise

Yeah, actually that's true. I am also thinking of replacing my catalog with just a tiny compilation of songs outside of the Valueverse and putting a song in there that is about V4V and where to find my stuff. 😅 Btw. I released my current EP as a podcast feed only plus Bandcamp.
I enjoyed your podcast with @ChadF and 33 others
Hoping to hear more from you. How about adding v4v music to the podcast?
give a little bit of sunlight to some of these incredible musicians we have over here. 😀
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! YES! I want to play more V4V artists!! That is the goal. Balancing that with trying to spread the word to those who know nothing about it too!
This is the way. I know some folks that are building a bandcamp equivalent powered by lightning.
fingers crossed, we will be ready for the masses sooner rather than later.
I hated Spotify because its interface irritated the crap out of me long before artists started turning against it. My music is still up there, but I wouldn't touch Spotify with a 10-foot pole.
I'm fine with my music staying up there (for now) because it doesn't make any money for them to steal from me 🤣
My bigger concern is that they're contributing to the surge in AI generated garbage. But then again, on the public web, what software doesn't?
You are sorely overestimating my music and it's reach 🤣 When I said I don't make any money for it to steal, I meant that literally, as you can see in the attached picture.
I don't promote Spotify or my stuff on it further than sharing the link when I mention where my music is available. When I share directly, it's usually through YouTube Music, and to a lesser degree Bandcamp.
I definitely agree Spotify is ass, and practically singlehandedly destroyed commercial music. But, much as I dislike how this phrase has come to be a defense for wilful carelessness and wrongdoing, I think it's a case of "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism".
Starving people will eat out of the trash, unfortunately.
But seriously, I don't promote Spotify. I'm just on it. And it makes such little difference, leaving it won't spite them at all. But I will have one less platform to share my music on, if ever anyone wants to listen to it there.

OK, I get you're not getting any reach on Spotify. (Most people, like 99% of artists on there are in this position)
But you are OK with them stealing your content, feeding into slop generators creating new ai content that is potentially yours and them keeping all the money......
Once again. I don't understand that attitude? And this Is nothing to do with capitalism.
