I don’t let it write code without my permission. Every hunk is reviewed and approved by me. I ask it to change 10-30% of the code it writes

As it's supposed to be. 👏 When being this careful (as one should), I haven't been able to get close to 10x. 2x maybe, definitely more for greenfield/new code.
Any hints?
The approach is smart. I've always seen AI as a kind of static code analysis or review buddy. But you've simply turned that around—you do the vcode review 😁
