I'm not sure. I think this may actually help prevent more panic and a mass exodus. It also sends the signal that we're on it and that efforts to exploit these vulnerabilities will become increasingly ineffective and expensive because we're uniting and have the people and funding to secure the field. 🤷🏻♀️

You're telling attackers they're on a shot clock. One announcement is enough to prevent panic then go do the work and patch the bugs. They're tweeting that over 99% of the repos scanned are vulnerable. I guarantee you they're not all fixed. It's giving away the position.
