I still see immense positive support for bukele and I don't spend time in bitcoin beach or Berlin when I go there.
What's better, a dictator that does what the people want, or a 'democracy' that lies and disenfranchises 50% of the population because it's captured by lobbyists?
This is a testing ground for turning democracy back into monarchy. Next, all democracies and pseudo democracies will have to be eradicated. It was proven globally with all types of democracies that they do not work. Many monarchies is the only way.
I just watched the speech. She does make points that are valid. So I give her that and being critical of any government is always a good thing.
My only issue with her position is she doesn't suggest or state how she would have done things differently. She talks about the breakdown of democracy, but the old government was incredibly corrupt and subject to the violence of the gangs. The old government was definitely not something that we want to bring back in any shape or form.
I agree that some innocents were swept up in the operations to clean up the country. However, when speaking to the local population, the vast majority of everyone I speak to supports what the government has done and is doing.

I think that Claudia has very good points. Some time ago I published this meme, so I don’t think I could be called a Bukele apologist.
Anyway, I have to say that there seems to be very few organizations or people who apply the same criteria for every country and leader. Unfortunately, that is true for Human Rights Foundation / Oslo Freedom Forum too.
It’s not like I am expecting anyone to admit that to be the case, but it’s pretty obvious for everyone who has been paying attention to the wars and conflicts all around the world.
Anyway, let’s quit LARPing that democracy exists anywhere or that ANY government respects human rights. Bukele is a distraction. It does not matter if you hate him or admire him. Participating into this conversation gives legitimacy to the political system.
And, right now, I am guilty of that myself. We should just ignore him and the whole political system. Perhaps the idea of HRF and OFF is to make people not to lose hope in voting. But voting is useless.

Because of the sabotaged monetary system, democracy and the justice system are broken in every country. Covid showed that. Ah, by the way, how about that bioweapon called Covid / coronavirus, the jabs, and other “pandemia measures”? Or what about the international pedo blackmail operation? Shouldn’t we make sure that our own communities get their own problems fixed before we go and preach about human rights and freedom in other countries? Every country broke its own constitution during covid. And let's not even talk about the kind of crimes that the organized pedos have committed.

Let’s focus on bringing human rights and freedom to our own neighborhoods. And it does not happen by voting. It happens by doing what is right. No reason to ask permission from anyone or to vote.
