Are there any fitness tracking devices that aren't totally spooky?

none.
Sad. This is an untapped market.
seems so, though, data is were they monetize
These guys were the OG heart rate monitor. Used to just be a watch and a chest band. No apps no cell phone. Was actually pre-smartphone when they started.

The bangle devices are open source devices worth considering.

What about the old-fashioned way where the money is made through the sale of the device itself? 😆
Their "Loop" product looks pretty minimalist and not obnoxious.
We used to call it pen and paper back in my day
Nice. And a good price too! Will look into them more.
Looks good at a glance. You know much about their current privacy policy?
And when exactly was your day, squire?
Just a basic black strap. Simple. Maybe different colour if spooky would imply on a colour. 🖖
Unfortunately no, we used to have to wear them during our fitness classes in High school (early 2000's). Back then it was just a chest strap and a watch; no data being recorded on any computer. The heart rate and time above target heart rate was just tracked on the watch.
Your post just reminded me of them. Certainly *seems* less spooky then everything else out there now.
I meant spooky, as in, reporting back your every step and bowel movement to the mothership.
Hahaha... yeah... I was just reading comments and realised. I wasnt familiar with the term in that direction. I dont think I cared ever much to even check. That is why it didnt come to my mind 🤦♀️😄 sorry
At the very least less addictive (no screen), so that's a huge plus. Will look into them more. Thanks for the info!
maybe this: https://pine64.org/devices/pinetime/
those days are fading more and more as they embedded "smart technology."
Ah, nice. Yeah, that name rings a bell actually. I think they might do a phone too.
