Arch does not come with SELinux, secure boot, or a firewall by default, so I cannot recommend it to a novice. And for an expert, you're going to waste your time activating these things. My philosophy is not to waste time on things that have long since been solved; it's not productive.
Fair enough.. But the speed of not having bloating apps.. It's fantastic. I run both Arch on my tablet and Mint on my desktop.. It's going alright. Thinking to ditch Mint for something else, not sure I wanna do Arch in both, so I'm interested to see what's out there.
