Imagine a communication protocol mostly controlled by the GAFAM giants, with security so weak it can’t even protect the content of messages, and features barely adequate for the 1980s. Now, imagine this protocol is used by 4.48 billion people and nearly every business on the planet. That’s email.
What could possibly replace email? While email does have some advantages, any replacement would need to offer:
- Greater decentralization
- Far stronger security and privacy
- Modern functionality
- A style suitable for formal communication
I can’t help but think Nostr would be perfect for this. We’d just need to build an email-style client on top of #nostr.
I'm no expert, do you think this is a good idea ? Do projects like this already exist?

I know your post is quite old, but in my opinion it's a very good idea. 🚀
So I wrote a note about that. 🧡
