Fewer dependencies? How are you going to verify that the gold you are holding in your safe is real gold? How are you going to find a vendor that trusts you and is willing to take your gold? How are you going to divide your bar of gold to actually make payments to vendors?
I'm just saying this meme is retarded and shouldn't actually be used as an argument on people because they'll bust it wide open and you'll look like a foolish zealot. the "moneyness" of any asset _can_ be confiscated/devalued by network effects and state violence beyond your control, even if you can keep the asset itself "safe" in your bunker. Gold, Dollars, bitcoin, stock - their values and validity are all determined by the choices of those who would exchange it (or outright control it, print it, etc). It's not impossible for a UTXO to be censored, it's just highly unlikely to happen on the longest chain. It's not impossible for gold to be carried off out of your house (probably likely). Both of these examples are versions of "confiscation" of the monetary part of your asset. Since bitcoin is pure money and not much else, a software confiscation essentially vaporizes the "asset" out of your possession, like magic.
Fair but we are splitting hairs at this point and bitcoin being an open source protocol means it can be improved upon to solve some of the challenges you are raising. Confiscation becomes a lot harder with multi sig spread across rival jurisdictions. Censorship can be avoided by using coinjoins and/or peer2peer transactions

i think he know bitcoin can be confiscated too. i think he’s saying there’s no way he’d let him or anybody know. stack humbly.
