All devices should have unlockable bootloaders. They don't block you from installing another OS on the new computer you bought, a phone should be no different.

Difference is, you're not running around with your computer in your pocket 24/7.

Poor arguement. How often a device is on your person or used shouldn't matter at all. You are not borrowing your phone from Samsung, you purchased it and it's your property. You should have the ability to do with it whatever you like.
