We have a few days worth of electrical work needed on our home if you’re ever interested in a little work vacation down in Maine. Basic stuff, lights, plugs etc. No specialized knowledge needed, idgaf about code, permits, or licenses. Would happily pay in sats for your PoW.

I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, I'm on the other side of the continent and unlikely to make it out that way anytime soon. I hope you can find a good electrician, maybe even one who accepts sats. Blue collar is not well represented in Bitcoin yet, unfortunately.
I think it’s the way of the future! Competent tradesmen who do great work and who might be under paid and/or under appreciated in their current position will find a warm welcome in the homes and businesses of other bitcoiners. People willing to pay for quality. The circular economy doesn’t stop at coffee!

Absolutely! I would say that at least from where I'm standing, skilled trades workers are actually pretty well paid, but they are underappreciated. A plumber should sit higher on the social status ladder than many white collar jobs (because their work is often more useful, and often better paid), but they don't. Because the work is dirty, and because whole generations of kids were taught that if you didn't go to college, you basically failed at life. Trades were the consolation prize for people who weren't smart enough to escape the lower class (as if student debt, unpaid internships, and a greasy corporate ladder were high class). The result of this has unfortunately been that we do not get a lot of truly smart people in the trades anymore (this may change as AI wreaks havoc on the white collar job market). And lord knows, we need them; you do not want a moron building, wiring, or piping your house. If nothing else, even if it does get built right eventually, it will probably take longer and cost more than if intelligent professionals did the work. Or it will be cheap and shitty. Corallary to the dearth of quality human resources in the trades, we just do not have a lot of the intellectual curiosity that eventually leads people to things like Bitcoin. There is certainly a lot of distrust of government and dissatisfaction with the way the world is going, but it is largely impotent and incurious. I look forward to seeing this change over time.
