just sent my first email over FIPS mesh. Fully decentralized, encrypted, no server in the middle. Your npub is your email address. This is what the future looks like. image

Klingt verlockend und sieht auch so aus mit der Brezn😊! Bist du mit @npub1tuxk...ycn0 verbandelt? Vllt hast du mal Lust, uns dazu aufzuschlauen...πŸ™ƒ
How FIPS Mail works β€” setup in a nutshell: Install FIPS β€” a mesh networking daemon that runs on your PC. It generates a Nostr keypair as your identity. Your npub becomes your address in the mesh. Connect to the mesh β€” FIPS finds other nodes via Nostr relays and connects directly, punching through NAT automatically. No VPN, no central server. Install Stalwart β€” a lightweight mail server that runs locally on your PC. It only listens on the FIPS network interface β€” invisible to the outside world. Your email address β€” is simply you@yournpub.fips. Anyone else on the mesh can send you mail directly, PC to PC, fully encrypted. Read your mail β€” with any standard mail client (Thunderbird, etc.) connected to your local Stalwart server. The result: No central server No provider that can read, sell or block your mail Your identity = your Nostr key Works behind any NAT, any router, anywhere
Thank you very much for this short tutorial. That is going to help a lot with understanding and setting it up :-)
