Depends on the policeman you’re facing. I’ve had many many respectful encounters that played out in a similar fashion. Some were rude and definitely not in the right, but there is no use in debating, it’ll only make things worse for yourself. If you’re calm and to a certain degree cooperative they’ll leave you be.
